Santa Maria and Guadalupe Native. Santa Maria High School Teacher. School District Board Member. Dedicated Public Servant.

Ricardo Labor Day 2025-08026.jpg

Ricardo grew up in Guadalupe and Santa Maria, attending the local Boys & Girls Club and Santa Maria High School. The son of immigrants, his father worked long hours in factories and his mother worked as a seamstress to keep the family afloat.

For over fifteen years, Ricardo has taught and supported students at his alma mater, Santa Maria High School. He was the first in his family to have the opportunity to attend college, and he earned a bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley and a master's degree from Tufts University before returning home to give back to his community.

He became a Santa Maria-Bonita School Board Elected Official in 2020 and was re-elected in 2024 with over 70% of the vote. On the school board, he has successfully managed the budget, led initatives to train and hire local bilingual teachers, and championed the needs of local families.

He is an award-winning elected official who was recognized as North County Leader of the Year in 2025.
